Couple given laminate flooring advice

A couple whose plans to install laminate flooring were halted by the uneven surface of their floor have been given advice by one expert.

In his Detroit News column, home improvement guru Glenn Haege was queried on the installation of wood flooring in a kitchen.

"When an estimator came to measure the floor to be done, he discovered that two areas have spots with quarter-inch humps and one area with a dip," said the reader.

She went on to state she had been told that by taking the existing tile flooring out and gaining access to the plywood sub floor, the humps could be sanded down.

Mr Haege gave the couple contact details for a local flooring firm which has experience with such problems and assured the reader that they would be able to remove the bumps.

This comes after a recent Dallas Voice article advised homeowners to always check the slab or sub-floor before placing any material over it.
