Top Tips For Spring Cleaning Your Floors

So spring is in full swing and its at this time of year that many of us dust of the cleaning utensils to give the entire house a spring clean, but why not include your floors as part of your once yearly tradition?

It doesn't matter whether you have hardwood flooring throughout your home or carpets, what matters is the way in which you tackle your clean to get them looking their best.

Here are some tips for your flooring spring clean:

1. Hardwood flooring has the ability to make your home looking modern yet timely so keeping them looking good is really important. Regular maintainance could include sweeping and vacuuming, but to keep them looking better for longer you could have mats at entry points, have felt-tipped protectors at the bottom of tables and chairs as well as keeping off them with shoes. Try and ensure your pets have their nails cut regularly to avoid scratching and ensure that you clean them once weekly with a professional wood flooring cleaner.

2. Carpets can be kept clean by regular vacuuming to get rid of dust and dirt and by keeping your vacuum filter clean and empty it can create more suction meaning the carpets are cleaned better. If the carpet has got stains on it, try to remove the stain with warm water first to help release anything that is embedded in. Always try to remove stains by dabbing a cleaning solution on the rather than rubbing, this could make the stain worse.

3. Vinyl is usually found in kitchens and bathrooms and is much easier to clean than carpets. Make sure that you mop regularly but for that major spring clean why not purchase some specially designed vinyl floor cleaning to bring it back to its original shine.
