Three mistakes to avoid when fitting rubber flooring tiles

Rubber flooring tiles have become a popular flooring option in recent years; this is largely due to the ease with which they can be installed in the home.

However, there are some mistakes that can be made - which can complicate matters significantly.

Here are just three mistakes that you can avoid making:

Mistake 1 - Many people will assume that no preparatory steps need to be taken prior to installing the tiles; to make the installation as easy as possible you should always lay out the tiles beforehand - ensuring that the whole floor is covered. This will also give you an idea of which tiles need to be cut to fit in advance.

Mistake 2 - The amount of adhesive you apply to each tile will determine how strong the attachment to the subfloor is. Many will simply apply the adhesive to either the subfloor or the hind side of the tile - but not both. Be sure to avoid this mistake and apply to both - spreading the adhesive evenly with a trowel (that's notched).

Mistake 3 - The final step usually consists of using a roller to press down the tiles - ensuring that they are fixed in place; despite this, many will ignore the step - leaving them with an uneven floor. It isn't a difficult step to take and will provide aesthetic benefits - so remember not to miss it out.
