Sealing your stone floor

Stone floors have become an extremely popular alternative to laminate and solid wood flooring amongst homeowners.

An elegant covering, stone flooring needs to be sealed in order to for it to remain looking fantastic. With this in mind we've produced a simple guide, detailing how you can go about applying a sealant to your stone flooring:

Step 1 - Ensure that your floor is completely clear of dirt; this can be done with a vacuum cleaner, broom or mop.

Step 2 - Now the floor is completely clear, you should apply a proprietary residue remover - this will remove any of the tough stains that you couldn't remove in the previous step.

Take a soft cloth and dry to remove all moisture from the floor's surface before applying the sealant.

Step 3 - Before you start applying the sealant, open all windows in the working area - to provide adequate ventilation.

Cover the floor with the sealant; then work in with a paint roller - ensuring that you use long strokes for comprehensive coverage.

Step 4 - Take a clean piece of rag and wipe away any remaining excess sealant - doing this will prevent the floor from appearing streaky; then leave to dry.
