Although fantastically durable, vinyl flooring tiles can be come dull over a period of time - leading to the decorative surface layer becoming unsightly and worn. A lick of paint can, however, give the tiles a new lease of life.
With this in mind we've produced a short, simple guide on how you can paint your vinyl flooring tiles:
Step 1 - As a preparatory step you should ensure that your floor is completely clear of dust, dirt and debris; this can be done with either a vacuum or mop. Windows should also be opened to ensure that the room has an adequate amount of ventilation.
Step 2 - Once clean, you can add a primer to your floor. Firstly you should make sure your primer of choice is oil based.
When applying, brush in long and even strokes - ensuring you always apply in the same direction. Before you add another coat, be sure to allow the initial layer enough time to dry.
Step 3 - Now that the primer has been applied, you can go about painting the floor. The paint should, like the primer, be applied in long and even strokes.
Once completed, allow to dry and apply a second coat. If necessary add a third coat - again allowing it sufficient time to dry.
Step 4 - Take a urethane varnish and apply to your floor - this will give it a greater layer of protection. Again, allow to dry and apply another coat. The floor should be left, clear of foot traffic for around three days.
