Replacing a vinyl flooring tile in five easy steps

Positioned at the mercy of a great amount of wear and tear, vinyl flooring tiles can quite easily become damaged over time - even with the greatest amount of care, damage sometimes just can't be avoided.

With this in mind, we've produced a short, simple guide on how you can go about replacing your damaged vinyl flooring tiles:

Step 1 -Firstly you will need to remove the damaged tile - this can be done using a hair dryer to heat both the tile and glue.

Step 2 - If the tile's position allows you to, run a knife down the seam of the tile to break off any glue that maybe attaching your damaged tile to the tile adjacent to it.

To pry away the damaged tile, take the knife, place flat and maneuver underneath the damaged tile.

Step 3 - Take a scraper and set about removing the glue still remaining on the subfloor layer.

Step 4 - Now you can set about installing a replacement tile. Firstly, take the replacement tile and place it into the gap to ensure that it is a correct fit.

Take a small trowel and smear adhesive onto the subfloor and then position your replacement tile into position. To finish, take a rolling-pin and using a firm action, roll down.

Step 5 - Remove any excess adhesive away from the edges using a damp cloth and place a weighty object over the top of the tile for the duration of the drying period.
