Repairing laminate flooring affected by bubbling

The bubbling often found in laminate flooring is usually caused by one of two things - moisture or tension. In either instance, the floor can be repaired, though it does take a little effort.

If the bubbling has been caused by moisture, there is a good chance that you'll have to remove the damaged floorboard and replace it with a new once.

Here is a quick guide on how you can do so:

Step 1 - Locate the piece of skirting board nearest the damaged floorboard and remove using either a hammer or screwdriver. Remember, you'll need to refit the skirting at a later point, so be careful not to damage it.

Step 2 - As laminate flooring uses an interlocking installation system, you'll be required to remove the boards next to the damaged one. Lift the board nearest the wall first and slide it off the locking mechanism - continue this process until you can access the damaged board.

Step 3 - Remove the damaged board and replace with a new one. This can be done by inserting the tongue of the new board into the groove of the neighbouring board. Re-install all other undamaged boards back into their original places to complete the repair process.
