Repairing frayed rubber flooring tiles

The ease with which they can be installed has made rubber flooring tiles an extremely popular choice in households up and down the United Kingdom.

However, with time tiles that are exposed to rubbing and general wear and tear can become frayed at the edges - which can look unsightly.

It isn't anything that should cause panic though; those tiles that have frayed can be repaired relatively simply; here's how:

Step 1 - Firstly you need to locate the frayed tiles. Take a bucket and create a cleaning solution using fresh water mixed with either vinegar or a simple household detergent. Once clear of dirt or debris, ensure the tiles are dry.

Step 2 - Epoxy is the substance you'll be using to repair the damage; before using you should mix it in with an acrylic paint which matches the tiles' colour.

Step 3 - Take some aluminum foil and use it to cover the damaged tiles; then simply warm using an iron. Doing this will allow the epoxy to adhere to the surface more easily.

Step 4 - Apply the epoxy with a putty knife, working with care to ensure each of the holes and damaged areas are completely covered. Level off your work with the knife and allow to dry.
