Removing water stains from oak wood flooring
When talking about solid wood flooring, oak is a wood that immediately comes to mind - displaying a beautifully rustic and organic appearance. However, this finish does come at a price, a very costly one – which would intimate that great care should be taken to ensure it doesn't become damaged.
Though in the home, as everyone is well aware, accidents can happen – there just isn't anything you can do.
For example spilling water on a solid water floor can normally spell disaster.
With oak flooring it is possible to remove water stains using a very simple method, which we've displayed below:
- Take a thin towel to the area of oak flooring that is stained with water spots.
- Once you've done this, take a standard, household iron and put it on a medium setting. Once heated, rub the iron in a back and forth motion on the towel for a couple of minutes. The towel can be lifted, allowing you to get a regular look at the progress of the stain removal process.
- This should be done for as long as it takes for the water stains to removed from the surface. However, be careful to ensure that you don't leave the iron on for too long, or pressed down too hard – as this could burn both your towel and flooring.
