Reattaching a loose vinyl flooring tile

Vinyl flooring tiles have, in recent times, become extremely popular as a floor covering within the home. However, despite their popularity, they do offer a slight disadvantage.

They can over time become loose from the subfloor layer; however, although very strange, in this particular instance vinyl flooring tiles also offer an advantage - as they are extremely easy to glue back into place.

Gluing a vinyl floor tile down can be done simply by following these four steps:

Step 1 - Always a good preparatory measure, ensure that your floor is clear of any dirt, dust or debris.

Step 2 - Take a standard hairdryer and heat the tile you aim to re-glue back into position. This will heat the current layer of glue, making it much easier to pull the tile away from the subfloor. Always begin at the corner of the tile and gently lift before gradually pulling away.

Step 3 - You can now apply a fresh layer of adhesive to the tile. Follow the instructions on your adhesive container and simply spread the glue onto the subfloor layer.

Step 4 - The process can now be completed by placing the tile into position. Once in place, push down firmly - ensuring that you wipe away an excess adhesive from the edge of the tile.
