A popular floor covering for the kitchen, vinyl flooring is left susceptible to all kinds of spills - on a regular basis.
However, because of its non-absorbent surface, these spills are very easy to clean.
For example, oil spills on the majority of flooring types would induce a huge amount of panic into a person. With vinyl flooring though, it is incredibly simple to ensure that all the oil is removed from the floor both quickly and safely.
Here is a simple three-step guide on how you can go about removing oil from your vinyl flooring:
Step 1 -Take either a piece of rag or a sponge and soak with warm water. Use the sponge or rag to wipe away as much of the oil as possible - at the same time avoiding rubbing it into the surface. Clear away any remaining water from the surface with a healthy amount of paper towels.
Step 2 - For the next step research will be required. Before taking this step, it is important to find out what type of vinyl flooring cleaner is most suitable for use with your specific covering. Ensure that the cleaner is specifically designed for use with vinyl - rather than a multi-purpose cleaner.
Pour a good amount of the cleaner onto the spill and leave for around 15 to 20 minutes - depending on the size of the spill.
Utilising a similar method to the one employed in the previous step, wipe away the remainder of the cleaner using the rag or sponger - regularly rinsing clean with warm water.
Step 3 -The previous two steps may need to be repeated two or three times before you see a significant effect. Although this may seem time-consuming, these steps will ultimately see that your vinyl flooring is restored back to its pre-oil spill former glory.
