More tips for caring for bamboo flooring

Bamboo is a material that will provide the home with a stunning finish. As a floor covering, however, there a number of rules that will need to be implemented - in oder to ensure that the bamboo remain looking at its very best.

Here is a selection of those rules, that if stuck to, will allow your flooring to flourish in the home environment:

Keep out of direct sunlight -

Direct sunlight - in prolonged spells - can work to have a detrimental effect on the quality of your bamboo flooring. The rays will cause the beautifully natural colour of the planks to fade away - gradually sapping its appeal away at the same time. To keep the flooring adequately protected, employ the use of blinds in the home.

Keep humidity low -

Humidity, like sunlight, can have a hugely negative impact on bamboo flooring. Too much will cause the planks to crack, whilst not enough will result in plank shrinkage.

The levels of humidity in a room can be managed with humidifier.

Precautions to take when placing furniture on bamboo -

As bamboo can quite easily become gouged and scratched, it is important to employ the use of pads under the legs of furniture. These pads will ensure that your floor is protected against direct contact with those potentially sharp edges.
