Interior designers across the globe are increasingly using bright colours with simple natural styles in the kitchen.
Kitchens are evolving from intricate, artistic designs to into clearer more defined décors. Natural flooring products are also on the rise, with solid wood flooring being combined with stone countertops, for example.
By using natural simplistic designs, designers are able to make kitchen spaces look bigger and lighter. In purchasing solid wood flooring there is the added bonus that it appeals more to potential buyers, should you ever wish to sell your property.
Bright colours are used in combination with the wooden floor to give the kitchen its individuality without looking busy-looking and complicated.
Open-plan kitchens work especially well with wooden flooring. TV designer, Linda Barker has solid oak flooring in her home. She commented: "The decor's characteristic of my style so it has a rustic feel but with a contemporary twist". To match the floor Linda fitted her kitchen with slate splash backs, gloss cabinets and black work surfaces.
