How to remove three common household stains from your wood flooring

Whenever you or someone else spill something on a wood floor, there is always a gasp of exasperation - how are you going to remove that unsightly stain?!

There is no need to panic though, the majority of stains can be removed; and with this in mind we've produced a guide on how you can remove some of the most common stains from wood flooring.

It must be noted that before using any of these techniques that you firstly remember that you'll be working with chemicals - so always read the directions and always have a good level of ventilation; and secondly try the method on a small, hidden-from-view area to prevent any potential mishaps.

Crayon Marks - This will be common problem for parents. Toothpaste provides the perfect stain-removing solution in this instance. Simply using a damp cloth, apply the toothpaste to the stain to remove.

Ink Stains - Pens can leak very easily, causing frustratingly regular stains. However, using a cloth dampened with a solution made up of soap and water, you will be able to remove the ink from the surface.

Alcohol - Alcohol can prove to be problematic to remove; by using a simple solution of soap and warm water, you can remove the stain with a dishcloth.
