If you're not afraid to experiment with a dark coloured floor this will create a classic look that teams very dark floors and even pitch black wooden floors with light-coloured interior decor.

Brown floors also work well for a rustic feel.  The rest of an authentic rustic look can be created by using accessories such as bulky furniture and chunky woven rugs.

Genuine wooden floors are not your only option, though, laminate flooring can emulate this style and even have grooves and knots of real wood.  This is a far cheaper option and more durable than real wood floors.

In addition, consider which way your house faces when choosing flooring, and how much sunlight you get, as floors can lighten or darken a room.
