Flooring for a family home

According to a leading flooring supplier, laminate flooring could be the most suitable option for family homes.

Interior designer Gail Mayhugh recently explained that claws from family pets around the house can damage traditional wooden flooring, whilst light can also cause flooring to fade.

Laminate flooring not only looks like solid wood flooring, but because it is made from high density fibre is has greater durability. The cost of laminate flooring is considerably less than solid wood flooring.

"With the advancements in computer-generated images, most times you can't tell a laminate from a wood by just looking at it," commented Mayhugh.

It is not enough to just go and purchase laminate flooring for your home as there are different styles and wear ratings to consider.

If you do not have any pets then solid wood flooring could be the right option for you. Many reports suggest that solid wood flooring improves with age rather than becoming dated. The flooring goes well with both traditional and contemporary furnishings. If you're used to carpet and are unsure about the change to a hardwood floor, rugs are the perfect solution to give you the best of both worlds.
