The winter months make choosing a suitable floor covering for the home slightly more difficult; footwear caked in snow, grit and mud can cause irreparable damage to a good number of floors.
Floors that are durable, but at the same time stylish, provide the best possible option.
Cork flooring, for example, is one of the most durable materials. In a square form, the natural fibres that make up the flooring are more than capable of handling the increased levels of moisture that the winter months bring.
Vinyl plank tiles are also recommended. Durable, yet thin, the tiles are extremely easy to fit and can be mopped without too much effort - which is great at a time in which slush is likely to be more prominent than usual.
For those simply looking to protect their existing flooring - rather than completely replace it - a rug could provide the most ideal solution. Invest in a couple of cheap rugs; this will allow you to swap between them when one needs to be cleaned - which in winter conditions, it inevitably will.
