The annual DOMOTEX exhibition drew to a conclusion on Tuesday, with around 45,000 people thought to have attended the fair - staged in Hannover - over four days.
Known as the world's leading trade exhibition for flooring, DOMOTEX also attracted 1,371 exhibitors.
Andreas Gruchow, managing board member at Deutsche Messe, commented on the success enjoyed by this year's edition.
He said: "DOMOTEX Hannover 2012 has been a huge success, with a double-digit surge in visitor numbers, design highlights at every turn, and a thorough upbeat mood in all of our halls."
The amount of visitors from Eastern Europe, the Far East and North America also displayed a significant increase compared to past editions.
Gruchow added: "The themes selected for DOMOTEX were right on target. Several new initiatives proved highly successful, and the event's keynote theme of "Customized Living" enhanced its reputation as a furnishings and lifestyle tradeshow.
"The new design trends for rugs and fitted carpets, parquet and laminate flooring showcased at DOMOTEX 2012 represent the epitome of lifestyle and contemporary interior design," he noted.
