Wood flooring can bring a stunning look to any room and is durable and long-lasting. However, those of us with canine companions will know that there is the danger that an excitable dog can wreak havoc on home furnishings - and flooring is no exception to this rule. Follow these tips to ensure man's best friend doesn't become your floors worst nightmare...
1. Clean paws
When your dog comes in from a walk be sure to clean his paws to avoid dirt ruining your floor.
2. Play rough outside
If you play rough and tumble with your dog, or throw him things to fetch, make sure this is always outside as he is likely to scratch the floor trying to get a footing on the shiny surface.
3. Keep nails short
Keep nails trimmed to further avoid the risk of scratches on the floor surface
4. Use a mat
If you keep your dogs bowl on the wood floor, then be sure to use a mat to protect from the inevitable spills and slobber that will surround the area.
5. Chose distressed
Distressed flooring will allow any scratching that does occur to blend in.
