Bring light into a room

To bring light into a room, there are many factors which can be taken into account.  One of those things is to consider the decor in your home.  Light colours will instantly brighten a room, while a sand coloured laminate floor will reflect light back too.

Have blinds instead of heavy curtains, so you have the option of having them semi closed rather than all the way.  In addition the furniture you choose, and pictures on the walls will help to create the mood of the room and account for a lot of the ambiance.

If you have the option to add a skylight to your room this can obviously help to bring in light, and so will knocking through and creating an open plan floor layout, as light can flow through the house.
