Determining which flooring to choose

Leather, cork, carpet, tiles, laminate, vinyl, hardwood; these are just a few of the floor coverings that are available in the current flooring market.

With all of these materials to choose from it can be easy to forget about the room in question; however,  it is vital not to as the purposes for which the room is used can determine the choice of flooring.

You should, when choosing a floor covering, ask yourself: will the room endure high-traffic levels? Will the room feature pets or children?

For example, when choosing a floor covering for the kitchen, there isn't much point in choosing something soft; a high-traffic area, it is more likely to be at risk of becoming scuffed, scratched, gouged or stained - therefore solid wood flooring is likely to be more beneficial.

The amount of maintenance you want to put in should also be questioned when making a choice. If you're unwilling to put a great deal in,  a covering such as granite is unlikely to be the one for you.
