Cleaning your vinyl floor planking in four easy steps

Vinyl flooring has gained many plaudits over the years for being so easy to maintain. Vinyl plank flooring is absolutely no different. Providing all the aesthetic beauty of a solid wood floor finish, vinyl plank flooring takes away the headaches brought on by the price and maintenance process.

With this in mind, we've produced a short and simple guide that will allow you to ensure that your vinyl plank flooring remains fantastic:

Step 1 – Firstly using a vacuum cleaner or broom (depending on the amount of dirt), set about vacuuming or sweeping the lingering dust and dirt from your floor. Ideally this particular step should be carried out on a regular basis anyway.

Step 2 – Create a cleaning solution; this can be made from 1 tablespoon of ammonia (or washing-up liquid if you don't have any of the former at hand) to around a quart of water. Then using a piece of rag or a mop, clean the floor.

Step 3 – If you've decided to go for washing-up liquid in your cleaning solution, ensure that you rinse away any remaining residue with clean water. If this step isn't taken, the floor will be left unpleasantly sticky.

Step 4 – This final step depends on the advice that the manufacturer of your vinyl floor planking may have provided you with when you purchased it. Some may recommend that a fresh coat of polish applied to give added protection against everyday wear and tear.
