Cleaning your mahogany wood flooring

A type of wood flooring that simply oozes character, it is no surprise that Mahogany is as popular as it is. Its combination of striking reds and browns project an appearance that is utterly timeless.

However, for the flooring to remain looking this way, it needs to be cared for appropriately.

With this in mind, we've produced a simple guide on how you can easily clean your mahogany wood flooring:

Step 1 - Before you begin the process, you must ensure that the area is clear. Sweep away any dust, dirt or debris with a broom. If you find it necessary, use a vacuum cleaner to remove any lingering dirt.

Step 2 - Create a cleaning substance by mixing one litre of warm water with one litre of undiluted vinegar. Mix together and then submerge your mop in the newly created solution. Wring your mop so that it is damp, but not soaked.

Step 3 - Mop the floor in small sections. taking time to submerge and wring out the mop when you feel that it is necessary. Remove any remaining water from the floor's surface with a dry cloth.

Step 4 - Take a clean cloth and moisten with a small amount of olive oil. Use this cloth to polish the surface, leaving it to set in for around half an hour.

Once dry, wipe away any excess oil with another clean cloth to complete the cleaning process.
