According to a leading industry website, an extension to the US deadline for the anti-dumping determination for Chinese engineered hardwood flooring has been granted by the US Department of Commerce. The extension was given to allow the department to pursue further investigation into the matter.
The Chinese engineered flooring is accused of receiving unfair subsidisation by allowing floors to be sold at lower prices. This has led to the department of Commerce in the US being forced to act by a number of American flooring firms who aren't happy with this arrangement.
The Coalition for American Hardwood Parity (CAHP) are the industry group who have directed their petition solely at China because that is where they feel the greatest threat to the US wood flooring industry is coming from.
Questionnaires have been issued to help them to discover discover more about these issues are said to be incredibly detailed and complicated.
The extension will not affect a preliminary decision, which is expected to be delivered in late March but will indicate the progress of the investigation.
