World Cup 'will lead to DIY jobs increasing'

Many householders could spend this weekend carrying out DIY jobs to prepare themselves for the World Cup, according to Build It magazine.

Anna-Marie DeSouza, deputy editor at the publication, stated that the warmer weather could persuade homeowners to spend time on DIY jobs that have perhaps been left waiting because of poorer conditions outside during 2010 so far.

She said: "There will probably be a huge rush on to get jobs done and the garden ready for World Cup barbecues and celebrations, so plants, garden furniture and barbeque sales are likely to soar."

Ms De-Souza added that summer is traditionally the time of year property owners look to carry out home improvements regardless of whether or not there is a major football tournament on.

She was speaking after thecaliforniacompany.co.uk revealed that more and more women are carrying out DIY jobs around the home, with nine out of ten of those surveyed claiming to own power tools.
