Wood flooring 'is what buyers want'
Wood flooring's price-boosting effect on properties has been promoted in a new home improvement column.
Writing for the New Hampshire Union Leader, columnist and real estate agent Marie Mailhot responded to the query of one reader who wished to know how best to improve their home with a view to selling it.
Ms Mailhot claimed that flooring is a great place for a renovation to begin and hailed wood flooring as a great way to improve a property's value.
"If you have hardwood floors and there is carpet installed on top of it, hardwood is what buyers want and it would pay to have the carpeting removed," she said.
Ms Mailhot went on to state that adding a coat of fresh paint to the home can often impress buyers, noting that potential purchasers often pay close attention to the ceilings of a property.
This follows a recent Philippine Star article, which observed that wood flooring can influence the ambience of a home.
