Wood flooring cleaning robot released

A cleaning robot specifically designed to maintain hardwood floors has been released for commercial sale.

In a recent Crunch Gear article, Devin Coldewey reviewed the robot, claiming it was a "dream come true" for dust-haters.

The Mint Floor-Cleaning Robot tackles dirty solid wood floors using reusable microfibre cloths and finds its way around a room using specially-adapted "GPS-like technology".

Mr Coldewey promoted the robot as being "terrific" at dust collection, intelligently working its way around obstacles, in addition to being compact enough to fit in tight spaces.

"It starts from scratch every time, building a map and cleaning however it thinks best. Its compact body and square shape let it get right along the edges of walls," he said.

Earlier in the month, scientists from the Pohang Institute of Intelligent Robotics in South Korea unveiled an intelligent window-cleaning robot named Windoro.

The Mint robot is priced at $249 (£157), lasting for around three hours on a single battery charge and able to work in wet or dry modes.
