Wood flooring can provide individual look to home

Installing and then painting solid wood flooring may help to give a home an individual look.

Leading interior designer Linda Barker, who once starred on home makeover show Changing Rooms, said more and more people were beginning to let their individuality shine through in their homes.

"There is a certain move away from a minimalist look - white and cream - and now it is much more eclectic and much more about the individual," she commented.

Painting solid wood flooring could be one way to make your home stand out from the crowd.

Colourful patterns can be added to the material to give a unique look to a room.

Ms Barker also said more people were trying to carry out their own home makeovers rather than getting an expert to do the work for them.

Earlier this year, a 4Homes blog post said wood is to make a comeback in 2010.

Installing solid wood flooring could therefore be a good way to give your home cutting edge style.
