Wood flooring 'adds value to a home'
The value-adding benefits of wood flooring have been praised in a new maintenance guide.
Writing for Newsday, columnist Gigi Berman Aharoni spoke to interior designer Yosi Sason of US firm Style Management.
She claimed that homeowners who are "serious about selling" should consider taking up their carpets and exposing their wood floors.
"Wood floors add value because they look rich, inviting, clean and are healthier," said Ms Sason.
Ms Aharoni spoke to a number of other renovation experts, who offered a range of maintenance tips to help homeowners keep their wood floors in top shape.
Gary Ridente of GR Wood Flooring claimed the key to cleaning such materials is to purchase the right cleaner and warned against using products that contain oil, wax and ammonia.
An About.com guide to home maintenance contained similar advice and advised homeowners to check with the manufacturer before using wax or buffing their wood flooring.
