Women are becoming increasingly involved in DIY, statistics reveal
More and more women are tooling up and tackling home improvement projects, according to the results of a recent survey.
Researchers from the National Home Improvement Show polled women across the country and found that just under 70 per cent of them are actively completing a DIY project in their home.
Nine out of ten women who were polled said they owned power tools and experts from the show believe women are picking up DIY in an effort to improve their homes on a budget.
Spokesman for the National Home Improvement Show Julia Kendell said of the results: "The stereotypical line between home improvement and the type of tasks each sex traditionally would complete have become much more blurred."
She went on to claim that women are naturals at DIY because of their patience and ability to multi-task.
The findings come in the wake of property advice from interior designer Kate Watson-Smyth earlier in the month. In an article for the Independent, she claimed that even small renovations could transform a home.
