Use vibrant colours to transform your home, say experts

Speaking to experts in the home improvement field, the Telegraph's Katrina Burroughs has found that vibrant colours can completely change a home's interior.

When undertaking renovation or home improvements such as installing laminate flooring, Ms Burroughs noted that this season's palette offerings were moving away from neutral schemes in favour of bold colours.

However, several of the home improvement gurus she spoke to said to be wary of colour, with one expert claiming it was "only for the committed".

They found that many homeowners stuck to neutral schemes for fear of making mistakes.

Interior designer Jill Scholes commented: "What colour does is instantly define a room, you can walk into a space and feel it has personality."

Homeowners choosing a colour scheme should be wary however, as experts warned that colour could often affect the "mood" of a room.

People undertaking home improvements, such as placing vinyl flooring, may wish to take the advice of Warren Evans, who last month claimed using matching furniture can often make a property seem more spacious.
