'Use rugs' to enhance laminate flooring

Homeowners have been told of the benefits the use of rugs can bring to properties with laminate flooring.

A recent eHow guide to the material explained that in addition to being aesthetically pleasing, floor coverings can help to keep laminate floors spick and span.

"A few throw rugs (with rubber backing to prevent slips) in the right spots can help keep your floor looking beautiful," it said.

The guide went on to note that a key place for a rug is by the entrance to a home, where pebbles and stones can accumulate.

Similarly, it recommended placing a floor covering by a sink to help protect laminate floors from water damage.

The guide also claimed that rugs can be of use near cabinets or pantries, where heavy items can drop and potentially damage laminate floors.

This comes after an Express and Star Guide to DIY hailed the material as a great option for DIY enthusiasts looking to renovate their home on a budget.
