Underfloor heating can be used to good effect in new and old homes alike

Presenter of Channel 4's The Home Show George Clarke has said that underfloor heating can be used to good effect in both new builds and older homes.

In an article for the Daily Telegraph, Clarke explored ways to transform regular properties into eco-homes.

His number one tip was the installation of underfloor heating. He promoted the technology as both energy-efficient and a great alternative to "ugly" wall radiators.

Clarke explained that, while underfloor heating is usually associated with newer homes, it can also be easily installed in many older properties. He also noted how well the technology worked in bathrooms.

Some of the presenter's other top tips included insulating lofts, buying furniture made from recycled materials and using locally-sourced building supplies.

Last month, the Telegraph reported on a house in Gloucestershire which was so energy efficient that its occupants were often only required to pay £20 per month for their energy bills.
