Tree houses becoming more popular

Tree houses are seeing an increase in popularity as a result of increased environmental awareness and sustainable living, as well as a wider variety of safer building materials.

Christopher Middleton reported in the Daily Telegraph that modern tree houses are now often catered towards adults as well as children.

Wood floors are a must in the 21st century tree house and many builders opt for a venue for adult get-togethers in addition to rope ladders and child-friendly clamber nets.

Mr Middleton spoke to Paul Cameron of Treehouse Life who agreed with his assessment. He said adults were increasingly using tree houses to entertain friends and adding features such as fixed staircases.

"I'm just finishing a project where the clients have specifically requested a sundowners' deck for evening drinks," he told the publication.

This news follows an announcement from the Royal Horticultural Society, who revealed a significant increase in the number of gardeners across the UK.
