Tommy Walsh: Do not rush painting a room
Tommy Walsh has told householders who are thinking of repainting their homes not to rush the process.
According to the former Ground Force star, in order to achieve a quality finish, DIYers must take their time.
In a column for the Sun, he told property owners to wash the walls before beginning to remove any stains.
"For the best finish, always apply two coats," he advised. "The old wall is still visible through only one layer of paint - and that's not pretty."
Mr Walsh also had a top tip for painters - to quickly turn the tin upside down and back again once they have finished and properly resealed the lid.
He explained that this creates a pocket of air that will stop a layer of skin from forming on top of the paint before it is next used.
A garage could be one room homeowners look to repaint, after research from Santander found that more than ten per cent of Britons have converted their garage into another room, such as a home office.
