Sustainable wood flooring features in green government building
The sustainable wood flooring of an environmentally-friendly government building in the US state of North Carolina has been noted in a new article.
Writing for the Charlotte Observer, columnist Lukas Johnson reported on the facility, which is the first in Concord city to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
Awarded by the US Green Building Council, the Rider Transit Center has received the second highest possible rating and features fixtures such as rubber and wood flooring.
Peter Franzese, public relations manager for the city of Concord, expressed his hopes that the facility will set the standard for future government buildings - and stated that the centre raises the bar.
"It's obviously doable. Maybe there are a few things that cost more along the way, but in the long run we are saving money," he said.
Earlier in the month, Jeffery Palmer of Accor told Air & Business Travel News about the wood floors and other sustainable improvements undertaken in his hotel chain.
