Small home improvements 'can make a difference'

Householders who are trying to attract buyers to their property or even raise its sale price have been advised that even small home improvements can make a difference.

According to property expert Marc Lockley, these changes do not need to be particularly costly for homeowners.

Writing for the Guardian, he said: "Small things can make a difference, such as a lick of paint to freshen up the front door, tidying up the garden, or putting a throw over a tired sofa."

Mr Lockley added that a further tip for people trying to sell their houses is to consider trying to find a buyer without going through an estate agent.

Repainting the walls of a home could be another way to attract buyers, as this could give a property an appealing and fresh new look.

According to Appraisal Institute president Leslie Sellers, larger home improvements are not always a guarantee that the value of a home will be increased, so smaller projects may be the way forward.
