Rugs provide 'buffer for wood flooring'
Wood flooring can be enhanced through the tactical use of rugs, it has been advised.
Writing for the Columbus Dispatch, columnist Melissa Dilley said that picking out the appropriate rug for a home can be an extended process.
She spoke to sales manager for floor covering firm Rug Gallery Megan Hirsch, who said that some homeowners have taken up to two years to find the perfect rug for their wood floors.
Ms Hirsch claimed that it is easier to use a rug as the starting point for a room and build the decor around it.
However, she acknowledged that many homeowners do not have this option and suggested that the surface, location and size of a floor covering should all be taken into account.
"[Rugs] can act as a buffer for sound rattling through hardwood flooring," said Ms Dilley.
According to Heals, rugs should be cared for with regular vacuuming and cleaning.
