Replacing windows 'can save homeowners money'
Replacing the windows in a property can help householders looking for home improvements projects to save around £500 a year.
According to the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC), the lifespan of new windows can be as long as 35 years, so it is a cost effective home improvement project.
Giles Willson, director for technical affairs at the BFRC, stated that the cost of replacing them depends on the size of the house and the style of their existing windows.
He said: "Different companies will give you different quotes, depending on the style which that homeowner wants, then you can work out how best to save money."
Although insulation is commonly thought to be the best way for homeowners to improve the energy efficiency of a property, the BFRC stated that windows are actually the main way homes lose energy.
This follows research by the Residential Landlords Association, which found that more and more potential tenants are looking for energy-efficient houses to rent.
