Pregnant women 'turning to DIY'

Pregnant women in the UK are increasingly turning to DIY in the nursery, according to new research.

A study conducted by product review website BabyChild.org.uk found that expectant mothers are more likely than their partners to build furniture for a nursery.

Figures from the Babychild.org.uk survey revealed that more than four in ten pregnant women have assembled nursery furniture without any help from their partner.

Co-founder of the company Jill Tovey expressed her surprise at the results and claimed that carrying out stressful DIY tasks alone is never ideal.

But she added:"Nesting is an important part of the pregnancy process and many mothers find great comfort in the preparation and decoration of their baby's nursery."

Ms Tovey went on to state that the results put rest to the idea that men were the dominant DIYers in the home.

Earlier in the month, research from Bosch Power Tools found that women are increasingly turning to DIY to save money and as a way to express themselves creatively.
