Older people to receive home improvements

Home improvements will be carried out on the homes of older people in Worcestershire.

More than £300,000 has been made available by Worcestershire County Council for tradespeople to carry out basic repairs and home improvements in the properties of older people in the region.

The scheme will last for two years and will mostly affect people over the age of 60 who live in rural areas, reports the Tewkesbury Admag.

Residents who live in places that are in danger of flooding will also benefit from the plans.

Among the home improvements to be carried out will be fitting energy-efficient lightbulbs, as well as changing curtains and building shelves.

Home safety checks will also take place as part of the project, while older people could also be set to benefit from receiving new appliances.

This comes in the same week that a £30 million project in Wales was announced to provide householders with green home improvements such as fitting external wall insulation.
