'Make your own contribution to nature' with eco-friendly wood flooring
Installing wood flooring could be an easy way for homeowners to improve their green credentials.
In a recent article, Oneindia columnist Suparna Chakraborty noted the increasing popularity of sustainable materials and listed a range of flooring types which could be suitable for environmentally-conscious DIY enthusiasts.
"Eco-Friendly flooring options are now available to make your own contribution towards maintaining the balance of nature," she said.
Ms Chakraborty hailed wood flooring made from bamboo - praising its durability and aesthetic benefits.
She claimed the right style of bamboo can add "volumes" to a home's decor and explained that the material is available in a range of colours and patterns.
Earlier in the month, the Detroit News reported on US retailer Kapalua Floors, which specialises in eco-friendly wood flooring.
Owner Joe Meyecic claimed that it is his intention to "ride along" the increasing popularity of sustainable home improvements and uses a number of green materials in his work.
