Low-bid price does not guarantee results, claims expert

Home improvement expert Mark Brick has offered a number of tips to homeowners looking to make upgrades to their property such as installing laminate flooring.

Speaking to US publication the Journal Sentinel, president of B and E Contractors in Glendale Mr Brick claimed that, while contractors realise their customers want the best service for the lowest price, this does not always guarantee results.

Some of his top tips when picking a contractor to carry out home improvement work, like placing vinyl flooring, included looking into the company's history and reputation in the community.

Planning should be paramount in the minds of people undertaking a remodelling project, said Mr Brick. He urged homeowners to consider the result and value of a project instead of simply going by the price.

Mr Brick's home improvement tips come in the wake of last month's statement by the National Home Improvement Council, which claimed that home improvements should be "more important" than going away on holiday.
