'Learn to clean different wood flooring types', homeowners advised

Homeowners have been advised to find out about the different maintenance regimes needed for different types of wood flooring and carpet.

Electrical appliance specialist Current spoke to floor care expert Kris Ronsman on how best to care for a property's floors.

He claimed that a good start for homeowners is to invest in a vacuum cleaner which offers adjustable power. This allows the user to match the setting to the type of flooring they are using it on.

Mr Ronsman also noted the differing vacuuming techniques between solid wood floors and carpets.

"A specific hard floor or parquetry tool is needed when cleaning specific types of hard flooring," he said.

Mr Ronsman recommended that homeowners who are unsure of the best way to care for their floors should contact the manufacturer or the installer.

A recent Lonad guide to caring for solid wood floors noted the range of advantages the material had over carpet such as durability.
