Jackpot win 'to be spent on home improvements'

A bingo winner in East Anglia has stated that she intends to spend some of her new riches on home improvements.

The anonymous woman scooped the jackpot of £250,000 at the Gala Bingo in Colchester and said she would like to buy a holiday, as well as improving her property, with the cash.

She added that she will be splitting the jackpot with her friend, with whom she has gone to bingo for more than a decade.

Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times, she said: "We've always dreamed of winning the big one and we always said that we'd split it between us."

Almost 250 people playing bingo at the club on the day will also receive a prize of just over £500 as a result of the jackpot award.

Last month, Jodi and Lee Taylor of Buhl in the US stated that they will spend some of their $50,000 (£35,000) prize on home improvements after winning the Powerball draw of the Idaho Lottery.
