Homeowners advised to 'insulate'

Homeowners in the UK have been advised to install insulation in sections of their home, which could include under their wood flooring, by one expert.

Writing for Click Green, founder of Nigel's Eco Store Nigel Berman set out a number of ways in which money can be saved by making simple adjustments.

His top tip was for homeowners to fit insulation in their homes and also noted that even single-glazed windows can have a film applied which will reduce heat loss.

"Even if your heating is super efficient, if heat is leaking out of your house the heating won't work as well as it should and you'll be wasting loads of money," he said.

Mr Berman went on to state that around 15 per cent of a home's heat is lost through ventilation and due to draughts. He promoted the use of stop draughts, letterbox ecoflaps and door draft excluders.

According to Dulley.com, insulation is one of the fastest and most cost-efficient ways to reduce a property's energy waste.
