Home improvers told to get paint rollers out
Homeowners who wish to carry out work on their home over the upcoming bank holiday weekend have been told to get the paint rollers out.
According to journalist Susan Emmett, this is one of ten small home improvements that can make a real difference to a property.
Writing for the Times, she said: "Paint can be the cheapest yet most effective way to change the look of a room.
"Esoteric brands do not guarantee better results than mass-market names."
Ms Emmett also advised householders to replace wallpaper with bolder patterns, to buy some new cushions or a lamp and to use mirrors to make a space look larger.
She also said homeowners could brighten up a room by laying down a new rug.
This comes after David Walker, sales director of Sanderson and Zoffany, told the Independent that bolder wallpaper designs are replacing smaller, more flowery styles as the most popular choices for those carrying out home improvements in their property.
