Home improvers told LED lights are improving

Homeowners who are looking to make their property stand out by changing the lighting have been told to consider LED lights.

According to Dr Brenda Boardman of Oxford University's Environmental Change Institute, this type of lighting is improving.

She told the Daily Telegraph that prices of the lights will decrease over the coming months after rules about the lighting in new homes were introduced.

"Although efficient lights are more expensive, they last up to 30 times longer than conventional ones and save money off electricity bills as well," she said.

Lighting designer Guy Dyke-Price of London-based Cadisch GIGB stated that LED lighting could also be a good option for business owners, citing the example of one entrepreneur who swapped their lights for LEDs and saves more than £5,500 a year as a result.

Will Homoky and Catherine Beswick recently told the Guardian that the green home improvements they carried out after being awarded £20,000 worth of work has made their property much more energy efficient.
