Home improvers 'should spend time making colours work together'

Householders who are thinking about carrying out home improvements such as redecorating have been advised to think big with their projects.

Artist Ann Frith stated that home improvers looking to redecorate should take some time work out how to make colours in their house work well together.

She also recommended that homeowners who love art check out degree shows to find new artists.

Speaking to the Guardian, she said: "We've been doing that for years - we buy only pieces we love."

Ms Frith added that homeowners should think big with their artwork, stating that pieces such as sculptures and masks work well in properties.

"You can create a sense of harmony by picking out colours in your accessories," she said.

Each year, Ms Frith opens up her home to visitors as part of the Brighton festival Artists Open Houses.

This comes after David Walker, sales director of Sanderson and Zoffany, said homeowners are becoming more adventurous with their choices of wallpaper design.
