Home improvements in kids' bedrooms 'requires forward planning'
Forward planning is important for homeowners who are thinking of carrying out improvements to children's bedrooms.
According to Laura Robinson of Earth Times, this is because kids have fickle tastes and get bored easily, so kitting out a room in a certain theme may not be a good idea.
She advised householders not to fork out large amounts of cash on themed televisions and beds in particular.
"Imagine how upsetting it would be to spend hundreds on a princess-themed television, only to be told by your daughter three weeks later that she had grown out of it," she added.
Ms Robinson said DIYers could easily create their own headboard for a bed with some MDF and a tin of paint, so there is no need to purchase an item like this.
March Loppas of building firm Herts and Essex Lofts told About My Area last month that a lot of people are converting their lofts into a new bedroom.
